‘150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’
Swami
Vivekananda was born on 12th January, 1863. He was disciple of
Ramakrishna Paramhansa. He was the founder of Ramakrishna Mission. He
introduced Vedanta and Yoga to Western World. He attended the Parliament
of world Religions which was held in Chicago in 1893 and gave his
famous speech. He breathed his last on 4th July 1902.
On the
occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda , India
issued this 5 rupees commemorative coin on 12th January, 2013, for
general circulation. On this occasion, another coin, in the denomination
of 150 rupees, was issued as proof / uncirculated specimen.
President Shri Pranab Mukherjee released special commemorative coin
set of Rs. 150 & Rs. 5 to commemorate the ‘150th Birth Anniversary
of Swami Vivekananda’ on 12th Jan. 2013. Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson
UPA, Shri A.K. Antony, Minister of Defence & Chairman NIC, Shri P.
Chidambaram, Minister of Finance, Shri Kapil Sibal, Minister of
Communications and IT, Smt. Chandresh Kumari Katoch, Minister of Culture
and Swami Suhitananda, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Belur
Math was also present at the function organized at the Rashtrapati
Bhawan auditorium.
